Once upon a time in a land just on the other side of the Holland Tunnel, a spry portfolio manager traveled to Chile to hike the trails of Torres del Paine National Park. Little did he know that almost exactly a year later, an adventure seeking city girl would do the exact same (though it should be noted she did the longer, harder trek). They missed each other in Patagonia and with one living in Hoboken and working in midtown and the other working near Wall St and living in lower Manhattan, their paths never crossed in New York City either. In the perfect fairytale, they would have met while filling up their water bottles in the Chilean Glaciers of Patagonia, bonded over their favorite oatmeal flavors, and lived happily ever after. But unfortunately, life is not a Meg Ryan romantic comedy.

 

But lady luck was not quite done with them... she just needed a little help from technology.  In 2019, Lindsay decided to put a picture of that Patagonia trip in her dating profile (alongside pictures of her at weddings, it completed the "I can get dressed up, but am tough so you better be prepared to keep up" vibe). First interactions in the digital world can be tricky, but when Tom saw a picture of Lindsay standing in the same place he stood in Patagonia he smiled to himself and immediately began writing.."I think I have that exact same picture..." Lindsay saw of picture of him summiting Kilimanjaro (a place she had also been) and was intrigued by this city dwelling mountain man.

 

They may not have had the perfect moment in Patagonia, but their love for the outdoors eventually brought them together and continues to strengthen their bond today. Italy, Glacier, Jackson and a pandemic later, they hope you will join them as they take this next step in their adventure together.
